  1. It appears the ship may not return to the Brindisi-Vlore route this year. Does anyone know what the future holds?
  2. Sorry for posting in English. We need to remember how much of a competitive disadvantage Stena UK have in personnel costs compared to their rivals. P&O at Cairnryan, Irish Ferries at Holyhead and Fishguard both use low-cost, non-unionised crews. Stena have rightly committed to retaining their current crewing arrangements but that costs them millions more every year. Maintaining their business in those circumstances is really challenging and I can understand why they have to keep on top of all their costs, brutal as it may be at times, simply to try and remain competitive.
  3. In support of what Nick is saying (this is Antares). The ships also have a lower hold for freight.
  4. Below is the ship's itinerary from summer 2004. Does anybody know if this was the same in 2003, the first year with Saos Ferries?
  5. The ship's exterior was styled by Kay Korbing no less and has quite a bit of nice detailing when looked at closely and in the original colours.
  6. Here is a jpeg of the ship as Vilum Clausen.
  7. The company is seeking to change the crewing arrangements to "live-on-board" two weeks on/two weeks off. So it would be to move in line with almost every other major ferry operator around the UK but obviously a big change if crews are used to going ashore and seeing family every day. It really is nothing like the P&O situation... the Steam Packet is now controlled by the Isle of Man government and I find it highly unlikely they would do anything like what P&O did. The discussion between the union and the company is now playing out in the press which is not going to be helpful unless it is just grandstanding by the union to get the best deal.
  8. Thank you all for the very helpful and useful information.
  9. Apologies for writing in English, does anybody know this year's Salamis timetables? Also will this operation be running on Wednesday when the strike is on?
  10. Another ship likely to head to Croatia - Jadrolinija will probably buy it for €12m. I suppose this would be a nice profit for the shipowner.
  11. Here is a little tour of the Rusadir together with some historic context (in English) around her design - https://hhvferry.com/blog/?p=7669
  12. I think it is the Official Carrier of the Moomins logo that the other Silja ships have.
  13. I think these are cabins for crew. Ironically the final area of passenger cabins in Viking Line service was originally an upper car deck! If ASL wanted to do some work to increase vehicle capacity it would presumably not be too structurally difficult to reinstate that upper car deck and use what had become crew cabins for passenger use. And then try and squeeze the crew into other areas. Apologies for writing in English.
  14. Whether the ship is really suitable or not for a genuine Western Cyclades operation is indeed questionable. But it does not have so many cabins any more. Those beneath the vehicle deck were removed some years ago and in final Viking Line configuration only half a deck was made available for passenger use with two full decks of accommodation above. Here is the final VL deckplan
  15. The ship has been offered to Jadrolinija for €7.65m so will likely be heading to Croatia later this year.
  16. 1. Πρέβελης - always ready to serve even after being rejected. One of the heroes of the Aegean. 2. Sporades Star 3. Aero 1-3 4. Αντιγόνη 5. Daleela
  17. A very interesting observation, but I can't find any evidence for such a thing existing in real life so perhaps it was a form of "artistic licence". I don't know about the Sifnos Express but the Kapetan Alexandros had something similar in her final years (see picture) but this was certainly a later safety addition. This is a picture of the vehicle deck of the Cerdic Ferry as built with no sign of any bulkhead. However the photographer may be standing in front of it 😂 This is another image on one of the ASN ships, I'm not sure which, but again a clean layout. I do not have a GA plan for this ship (I have a First Class accommodation plan though ). But the GA of the earlier Bardic Ferry (later Nasim II) again suggests nothing like this - but there is indication of a small central support for the crane. The Scottish Maritime Museum on Flickr has some nice images of this ship being built. To which I can add this of her First Class dining saloon.
  18. I took a trip on the ship in September - hope this is of interest: Sailing on the Daleela from Limassol to Piraeus
