Η συγκρουση του M/V Alpha Action με το Containership: Wan Hai 307

Στην Ιαπωνία, ναυτικό ατύχημα με ελληνικό φορτηγό πλοίο προκάλεσε την άμεση κινητοποίηση της ακτοφυλακής ανοικτά του νησιού Τοσίμα, στον Ειρηνικό Ωκεανό. Πρόκειται για το " Aλφα Ακσιον" , που συγκρούστηκε κάτω από άγνωστες συνθήκες, με φορτηγό πλοίο, υπό σημαία Σιγκαπούρης. Τα δύο βαπόρια ρυμουλκούνται ανοικτά του Τόκιο. Η πλώρη του ενός είναι καρφωμένη στην πλευρά του άλλου. Τα μέλη των πληρωμάτων, είναι καλά στην υγεία τους, σύμφωνα με τους Ιάπωνες. Από τη σύγκρουση, προκλήθηκε διαρροή πετρελαίου στη θάλασσα, με αποτέλεσμα να σχηματιστεί μισό μίλι πετρέλαιο-κηλίδα.

SHIZUOKA (Kyodo) An unknown amount of oil spilled from a freighter struck by another off the Izu Peninsula early Friday in apparently calm seas, the Japan Coast Guard said.

At around 2:20 a.m., the Singapore-flagged containership Wan Hai 307 was struck by the Greece-registered freighter Alpha Action about 7.5 km off Toshima Island off the Izu island chain.

The 77,221-ton Alpha Action smashed into the 25,836-ton Wan Hai's port quarter, the JCG Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture, office said. The cause of the collision was not immediately known.

Neither of the ships appears in danger of sinking, but an unspecified amount of oil spilled from the Wan Hai, the coast guard said.

As of Friday morning, the two ships, which remain "T-boned," were 12 km southeast of Oshima Island, it said. All crew members have been reported safe.

The Wan Hai was on its way to Hong Kong after leaving Yokohama. The Alpha Action was heading for Chile after leaving Nagoya.
