proud_ionian
AN outbreak of suspected food poisoning on the UK-owned, Bahamas-flagged 55,695 gt bulk carrier Yeoman Bridge has had the Western Isles Major Incident Response Team considering its options in case a full evacuation of the ship was necessary Six of the worst-hit crewmen were evacuated by the Stornoway lifeboat to hospital in Stornoway yesterday after the captain of the Yeoman Foster-owned ship became concerned for their wellbeing. However, after the GP and a police officer were winched on board the vessel by Coastguard helicopter to assess their condition, it was decided that it was not necessary to take the crew off, but to treat them on board. A volunteer nurse with additional medical supplies later took over from the police officer and she and the doctor continued their work treating the crew during the night. Stornoway Coastguard confirmed that the vessel was able to anchor safely about three miles south of Stornoway harbour. πηγη: mgn
