proud_ionian
source: MGN “DON'T PANIC OVER LOST RECORDS” FILIPINO SEAFARERS ARE TOLD THE Philippines Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) says that seafarers do not need to panic after 260,000 blank record books, required by seafarers leaving the country to work on the international fleet, were destroyed in a blaze. When news broke that the books had gone up in flames at the blaze at Philippine President Lines building, Manila, early on Wednesday, seafarers rushed to the scene. . However Marina administrator Vincente Suazo said that the authority had around 10,000 reserve books kept at other Marina offices that would last for two to three months. Marina has set up temporary offices across the street and urged seafarers not to rush in straight away.. Marina also lost its records on casualties and cancelled licenses but Mr Suazo said that these could be reconstructed from those kept by other local offices.
